The MTNA National Conference: an investment in the future - Forum focus: collegiate chapters

Ten years ago, I attended my first MTNA National discourse in Spokane, Washington, with sum of two units friends. As undergraduate students at Brigham Young University, we worried about by what means attending the conference would affect our schooling mad our preparation for upcoming recitals. As we scraped together without pennies to buy plane tickets and pay for motel require to be paid or undergones we wondered if conference attendance actually would be worth the sacrifices we were making.

The magical efficiency of meeting with so many other music teachers and scholars at the Spokane conference has had a lasting impact upon my teaching. Some individual twinklings and experiences of that discourse stand out in my memory: Byron Janis's performance of Henri Dutilleux's Sonata, Nelita True's description of her first piano exercise s in Montana, the Collegiate Chapters session with E L Lancaster and the exhibit hall, where I exhausted hours looking through music. In addition to astounding memories, I came away from the Spokane talk and each MTNA National conversation I have attended since, with three priceless gifts: motivation, education and vision. Attending the MTNA National conversation may be one of the greatest investments collegiate scholars will make in their futurity teaching careers. Here are more or less of the specific "returns" pupils may receive on their "principal":

centurys of informative sessions covering numerous topics are not awayed by outstanding leaders, not single in the music teaching profession, on the other hand also in related fields, similar as psychology, medicine, business, child disentanglement and law. Each year I gain important knowledge and novel ideas that help me improve my teaching skills and hold fast my teaching current. I think the talk is like a one-stop teaching store where I can gain something I ne for each scholar from the best teachers in the region in one convenient location.
