Board of directors election - National Association NewsConnie Arrau Sturm of West Virginia, has been chosen to fill a vacancy upon the slate of nominees to exhibit the Eastern Division on the MTNA Board of Directors. Connie Arrau Sturm NCTM coordinates piano pedagogy programs at West Virginia University. Sturm is the author/clinician of seventy-five articles/presentations, the winner of numerous awards, including the AMT Article of the Year Award, WVMTA Member of the Year and WVU Music Division's Outstanding Teacher. She has been a leader in professional organizations formerly serving as MTNA National learner Chapters chair, WVMTA Student Chapters chair, former WVMTA president and the National talk on Keyboard Pedagogy's Historical Research Committee Chair. As WVMTA president, Connie helped repeal a state sales tax upon music lessons, and as National learner Chapters Chair, she helped increase pupil membership by 4 percent and learner conference attendance by 45 percent "I gaze forward to helping MTNA enhance the music teaching profession," she says.
