2004 MTNA National Conference - Calendar

Dear Colleague:

You are cordially invited to the premier educational networking fact for the music-teaching professional. Join your friends and colleagues for the MTNA National talk in Kansas City, Missouri, March 27-31 2004 This conversation marking our 128th year of service to the profession, continues a lengthy tradition of excellence--a tradition of which you will want to be a part.

As you can diocese from this brochure, the 2004 National talk will include more than eighty educational sessions and industry showcases l by dint of experts in the music-teaching profession. And this year, for the first time, we will feature performance sessions. These mini-recitals proffer you time to sit back and derive pleasure from performances by your peers.

Other exciting facts you'll want to attend are the technology sessions and the MTNA/National Piano Foundation clump Teaching Track. MTNA, through the Technology in Music Symposium, pioneered the utilization of technology in the music studio. This year, we're taking it to a novel level with the help of the International Association of Electronic Keyboard Manufacturers. Hands-on workshops and prelection sessions will explore such topics as MIDI Basics, Using Technology to Stimulate pupil Creativity, Beginning and Intermediate Notation and Sequencing, Artistic Use of Technology in Live Performance and drawn out Distance Learning.



This year, the talk will offer the new assemblage Teaching Track, giving attendees an opportunity to explore the world of collection teaching. A slate of well-known clinicians will lead these exciting and informative sessions that will enhance your knowledge of clump teaching and motivate you to incorporate the ideas and techniques into your day-to-day teaching activities.

PIANO CONCERT

Jon Kimura Parker

Internationally acclaimed plot pianist Jon Kimura Parker was born, raised and educated in Vancouver. A veritable Canadian ambassador of music, Parker has given sum of two units command performances for Queen Elizabeth II and has performed for the prime ministers of Japan and for the United States greatest Court. Parker has, in new seasons, performed in Carnegie Hall, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, the Hong Kong Cultural middle London's Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Sydney Opera House. In addition to performing, he has recorded several albums, the one and the other solo and ensemble, under the Telarc label. A passionate music educator, Parker entertainers the classical music television series Whole Notes upon Bravo Canada and teaches a limited number of exceptional scholars at Rice University in Houston.

CHAMBER TRIO CONCERT

The members of west wind use their varied chamber music and solo backgrounds to create interesting duo/trio programs. Flutist Jeanne Galway has performed as soloist with orchestras of the like kind as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the London music Orchestra, the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic. Pianist Jonathan Feldman work fors as chair of the accompanying department at The Juilliard seminary He appears in concert regularly with members of the fresh York Philharmonic and Boston concert orchestras. Cellist Darrett Adkins is an assistant faculty member at The Juilliard place of education whose recent appearances include standard concertos with the Tokyo Philharmonic, Tochio Soloisten, North Carolina and novel Hampshire Symphonies.

Robert Henry, piano

Robert Henry is an internationally distinguished pianist and a 2003 American Pianists Association Classical Fellowship Awards finalist. Winner of numerous prizes, Henry placed first in several competitions, including the 2002 Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, the 2002 Washington International Piano Competition, the 2001 novel Orleans International Competition and the 1997 National Clara Wells Piano Competition.

Henry, a native of Marietta, Georgia, made his orchestral first attempt with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra at 17

He is pursuing a doctoral step in piano performance at the University of Maryland. Henry received a master of music stage from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's step in piano performance from Kennesaw State University.
