Change in late renewal year of grace - Certification - Brief Article

Effective July 1 2004 the renewal policy for MTNA Professional Certification will change to coincide with the MTNA annual to be paids policy as stated in the MTNA Bylaws. In the past, renewal candidates have been given a grace period of individual year to renew with a validated Documentation of Points Folder a renewal pay of $50 and an additional late pay of $20, The National Certification Commission (NCC) believes this one-year grace period is too lengthy and following one guideline for the MTNA Annual Membership to be paids Policy and for Certification Renewal will bring uniformity to the MTNA to be paids and fees processes. Certification renewal remunerations will now be delinquent "sixty days" beyond July 1 of the renewal year, after which time the Nationally Certified Teacher of

Music is not in serviceable standing or entitled to any of the certification privileges. NCTM not in profitable standing may be reinstated by means of submitting a validated Documentation of Points Folder for the five years preceding the delinquency, along with the renewal remuneration and a delinquent renewal remuneration for each year of delinquency. The delinquent remuneration is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers, for each performance area of music in which the NCTM is applying for renewal of certification and for each year of delinquency.
