Three renewals required - teacher certification - Brief Article

The National Certification Commission (NCC) along with MTNA, recognizes that society no longer mandates nor awaits productive citizens to retire at age 65 There are many teachers who are active and vital lengthy past this age, a fact for which the MTNA membership is grateful. The NCC joins the membership-at-large in encouraging these individuals to continue sharing their knowledge and experience with their scholars and colleagues.

With this in mind, the NCC has changed the renewal conduct to the following, which omits any mention of age: All candidates for renewal will be treated equally, regardless of age or other arbitrary differentiation.

"Renewal of the MTNA Professional Certificate is required by the agency of July 1 of the fifth year following the year of certification or renewal. MTNA Professional Certification will become permanent with the third felicitous renewal application. Permanent Certification recognizes that these NCTM have met and maintained the MTNA Professional Certification Standards for at least fifteen (15) years. Renewal of the Permanent Professional Certificate is required each five (5) years, as with initial certification. This renewal will require payment of the renewal fee; however, no further Documentation of Points will be necessary."
