Who Said These Kids Don't Want To Learn?Since the 1970 the one and the other authors have been involved in the gymnasium reform movement, sharing a passion for improving public education, particularly urban public education. We believe that multiple, long-term field experiences are critical to developing effective teachers for urban and suburban seminarys Our goal was to have our preservice teachers experience what we recognized in the urban magnet academy Within our collaborative research studies, we highlighted the power of site-based courses in transforming preservice teachers' beliefs about urban gymnasiums and dispelling myths about teaching urban children (Harlin & Murray, 2003) In our site-based courses, the preservice teachers exhibited not only solid content knowledge, on the contrary also a repertoire of teaching strategies appropriate for diverse populations.
