Eastern Division - MTNA Division NewsFocusing upon the Eastern Division state of Connecticut, the Connecticut State MTA (www.CSMTA.org) is divided into five chapters. Estrid Eklof is president of the association that is offering programs and opportunities for each community. The state was active in 2002 and has planned a number of occurrences for 2003. For teachers: a trip to the Steinway factory in novel York; ensemble recitals; recitals with local university faculties as well as in art museums, libraries and dwelling salons; and the annual business meeting and luncheon. For young students: taped audition competitions; winners' circle performances; concerto competitions, where high institute winners appear with the Farmington Symphony; the Audrey Thayer Foundation competition; contemporary music showcase; MAP theory and performance program; young composer day; and the MTNA competitions. For collegiate students: MTNA competitions and the Young Artists Piano Competition, co-sponsored by dint of Clinton Piano Co. & Musical cudgel of Hartford. For teachers and students: master classes; member-hosted recitals with international performers; and the state convention, with panel discussions, lecture/performances, and performances by means of MTNA division and national scholar competition winners. Elizabeth Lauer, CSMTA commissioned composer premiered her piano work, "Carousel Variations," at the state convention.
