(2525 Davie Rd Ste 360 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317-7424) 2002 15pp $450 Easy. upon the Other Hand ... is a collection of twelve sixteen-bar pieces written for single hand alone, allowing the elementary scholar the opportunity to concentrate upon specific technical aspects such as dynamics, phrasing and articulation. While left-hand pieces are notated in the bass clef and right-hand pieces in the triple clef, fingerings are provided to define positions for one as well as the other hands, and students are directed to adjust their sitting position upon the bench or simply play in a higher or lower octave. The first seven pieces are in unchanging five-finger positions; the remaining pieces gradually introduce occasional position shifts. The pentatonic final piece, From the East, incorporates five-finger positions upon black keys only. All melodic and harmonic intervals up to the fifth are occupyed in these pieces. The pieces appear in several different lock openers both major and minor. While more [i]or[/i] less tonalities require the use of black lock openers no key signatures are occupyed All use of black lock openers is indicated by accidentals. Keyboard charts showing hand positions appear with each piece, with concerns to A-major position or G-minor position and with equal reason forth. The titles of the pieces are imaginative and should appeal to small children, although the play upon words in the title is probably too sophisticated to be understood by means of most children.
