Fischoff Chamber Competition winners announced - Items of Interest - Brief ArticleThe Fischoff National Chamber Music Association named Quintet Attacca of Chicago the Grand Prize winner of the 2002 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, held May 10-12 2002 at the University of Notre Dame in southern Bend. As Grand Prize winners, Quintet Attacca will be featured upon the Joseph E. Fischoff Memorial Winner's Tour, which includes plans and community programming in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota. An additional $5000 cash prize will be awarded at that time. The the whole also won the Senior Wind Division Gold Medal and a $3000 cash prize. Fischoff will throw the quintet to the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy for several concoct appearances. The Senior Wind Silver Medal, worth $2000 was awarded to Syrinx Saxophone Quartet from Northwestern University, and the $1000 Senior Wind tin Medal was awarded to A scarcely any Good Reeds saxophone quartet from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In the Junior Division, for the wholes ages 18 and under, the First Place Scholarship of $2000 went to Orion Piano Trio from Midwest Young Artists in Fort Sheridan, Illinois; the $1500 next to the first Place Scholarship was awarded to Vidancia Trio of the Levine institute of Music in Washington, DC; and the Third Place Scholarship, worth $1000 went to Ivory Winds, a piano/wind sextet from the Chicago Youth music Orchestra.
