ARD Competition - Competitions

The 51st International Music Competition of the ARD will take place in Munich, September 4-21 2002 This competition is accepting applications in piano, hautboy bassoon and piano trio. The competition is render free of access to musicians of all nations whose date of birth falls between 1972 and 1985 (for the category piano trio, between 1970 and 1985)

The first, next to the first and third prizes for the categories of piano, hautboy and bassoon are 10,000 [euro]; 7500 [euro] and 5000 [euro]; respectively. For the piano trio category, first prize is 20000 [euro] and next to the first and third prizes are 15000 [euro] and 10000 [euro] The jury decides which prizes shall be awarded.

There also will be special prizes given, including an Audience Prize, the Barenreiter Urtext Prize, prizes for best interpretation and others. All circulars of the competition are lay open to the public.

Applications should be mailed to the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb, Bayerischer Rundfunk D-80300 Munchen. Candidates in the categories of piano, hautboy and bassoon must include a recording of their be in possession of playing on either a cassette tape or DAT cassette. All applications must be received by dint of April 30, 2002. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance or rejection no later than July 10 2002
