Southern Division - MTNA Division News - Brief ArticleIn this issue, our Florida Association recalls significant past accomplishments, while our Kentucky Association anticipates and plans for the future Florida State Music Teachers Association (FSMTA) President Martha Stubbs describes sum of two units major projects completed under the leadership of past president Joan Mank, NCTM FSMTA completely revised its bylaws. Also, the association made the transition from having four pages in the magazine, Florida Music Director, to publishing its have eight-page newsletter, The Florida State Music Teacher. With ten issues for year, the newsletter, along with the FSMTA website at www.fmta.org, holds membership abreast of all state activities. In addition to these of recent origin ventures, FSMTA held its sixty-seventh annual talk "A Musical Odyssey: Different Ports of Call," November 1-4 2001 in St Petersburg The conversation included workshops in the areas of of recent origin literature, accompanying skills, certification and community outreach. Sessions also were at handed by the duo team of Weekley and Arganbright, as well as the Amadeus Trio. Kentucky Music Teachers Association (KMTA) President Donald Speer NCTM reports excitement is building for KMTA's fiftieth annual state convention, to be held October 26-29 2002 at the University of Louisville. As in the past, a variety of occurrences are planned, including competitions, plots and informative sessions. The annual gathering also will feature the Elementary Auditions/Honors Recital (a noncompetitive circumstance for students recommended from local associations), the Quick Recall Theory Competition (a "quiz bowl" including teams from through every part of the state) and the twenty-eighth annual All-State Keyboard [i]tout ensemble[/i] featuring students and teachers in a digital piano "orchestra."
