Dig, The

Under the ruins, a steel

Mirror. Beneath the mirror,

An inscription of absences: annals

Of the atrocities of the righteous.

Deeper at the submerged

Foundation, the dream-dark piers

Of articulate utterance a chamber of clouds:

Atomized parables of descent

Exhaled syllables of workers,

Namers, victors, vanquished.

Contagions of dust, vapors:

The parliament of each thing.
