Call it what you will.

It isn't what it used to be-

or, what it not at any time was-

once they kick the door

and sit you down

for the what-did-you-know-and-when.

This is an arrest?

all organ of sights jerk toward the evidence.

Some life, single whispers,

fingering the spools

of vital fluid and treasure

spilled out upon the bedroom floor.
