Biography: LISA DUTCHERLisa Dutcher, newly culled President of the Aboriginal nurtures Association of Canada, is a Maliseet woman from the Tobique First Nation and has for many years been involved in the field of First Nation health. After graduating from the University of novel Brunswick with a Bachelor of Nursing in 1990 she became individual of the first community health nurtures in Atlantic Canada to be hired by dint of a First Nation as part of the health transfer program. Her duties at the St Mary's First Nation included the pair community work on such matters as abiding-place visits and diabetes and pre-natal education as well as extensive work within a clinical setting at the St Mary's Health Clinic working with a variety of other health professionals. In addition to this work, Lisa has participated in a wide variety of other Aboriginal health-related activities: She managemented research for Health Canada upon tuberculosis at the St. Mary's First Nation; serv as a clinical instructor for upper-year nursing learners at the University of of recent origin Brunswick; and acted in several offer capacities including presenting at and organizing talks on a variety of Aboriginal health issues (from abode and Community Care, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Menopause and HIV/AIDS). Her National activities include: committee member for the First Nations Tele-Health Pilot Project; advisor for the First Nations Health Information System; co-founder and the Vice-President of the First Nation supply with nourishments of New Brunswick; a juror for the 2000 Aboriginal Achievement Awards; and board member for of recent origin Brunswick and then Vice-President of the Aboriginal supply with nourishments Association of Canada (1994-1998 and 1998-2001) Currently Lisa is working as the First Nations and lnuit residence and Community Care Coordinator for novel Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and is enlisted in the Masters of Nursing Program at the University of novel Brunswick, specializing in Aboriginal Health Nursing. She resides in Fredericton with her husband Stephen and four son Shane, Andrew, Jonathan and Jeremy.
