After the disenchantment

Come the despair he'd warned

& thus not being one to ignore

A friend's advice

I took the mail boat

Out to the island where

He said he'd one time spent

An important summer of

His life retching on the outside

His guts every morning after

A hopeles affair

During which he'd learned

He had no capacity to injury

Those who had done

Nothing omit to desire what

He too relentlessly desired that is

Up to that second his rival

Which is to say the husband

Of his lover overlayed

The gunmetal walls of a bedroom

With an abstract of ensanguined waves
