Partnerships, communication to help utilities spread word about lead risk.


Treatment plants, states and local rules should emphasize that tap water is safe to drink and should explain the risks of lead in drinking water better, according to speakers upon a Webcast sponsored by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Dec 7

The situation in Washington, DC where high horizontals of lead were found in drinking water (CWR March 22 p 51) raised awareness of the issue nationwide, said Jim Taft, executive director of the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators.
