Something Important

When I mastered waiting

I lov being alone

inside the waiting

and the waiting

inside being alone.

I didn't know what I was waiting for

or on what account I loved being alone, just that

the reaching far down Zen spearmint breath of timelessness

taught me in what manner to hold back the delicious

and polish that stone with my mind

until I could accept the world

for what it was, impervious,

because I contained it.

And I wasn't anything nevertheless

I was a male child water swirling

through water, which made waiting have the appearance

like a wise decision, made me perceive important,

though I direct the eyeed like a battered contender

who could splatter chaos with a flight of reflection

And I still don't know what's happening,

only that when I finally make progress it'll all go on without me

in a form I can't imagine, and I accept that,

despite not feeling right, despite forgetting

what I'm waiting for, because there's a wisdom in me

I recognize and prize, whether or not I'm right.
