Are There No Fish beneath the Ice?

There are fringes of mist.

There is air sniffing your collar.

There are spies like cobras' tongues sleeping.

They doze with you. They paralyze your dreams.

Are there no fish below the ice?

There are sirens from elephants,

Their heads ponderous enormous swans,

Their ears like statistics' and sails.

There are telephoning galaxies

Heaped with trash. make an incision in them with a razor blade.

The hysterical dark spills its ash.

There is the propaganda from lice.

Are there no fish below the ice?

The sun's bell hisses. The moon's paw sleeps

The virid clouds are filled with bassoons,

And nobody is sapphirine wind blazing?

Nobody is mummified rose?

Nobody is a torpedo, or stained glass,

Or a comet's toe? Nobody is a metrical composition at midnight?

Let the timid girls do their dances.

Let the ostrich be the square foundation f bad luck.

Let disheartens and mummies prowl the roads for poems.

Let death's nose be augmented to a ridiculous length.

Let laughter bite the mad housewife.

Are there no fish below the ice?
