'Palmbeach 3' a contemporary art fair, takes place 14-15 January in Florida, and is offering buyer the opportunity to experience weightless flight of the kind that trainee astronauts receive (left) accompanied through their art collections. Those who purchase the 'Art in-space' package will be whisked into the canopy of heaven by a Boeing 727 aeroplane that will then globule suddenly for a minute at a time to simulate weightlessness. The organisers explain that art collectors should have a natural affinity with astronauts since they 'often call to combat gravity with the prices they are willing to pay for extraordinary art'. Perhaps a more likely explanation for the service is an attempt to attract clients who would otherwise visit the increasingly felicitous Art Basel Miami, which takes place the month before, also in Florida. 'Palmbeach 3' organisers encourage clients to bring along their art in this weightless environment, on the other hand add quaintly: 'Art-in space insurance not included.'
