The Chambers Gallery

The Chambers Gallery, located in an attractive renovated art-deco building at the heart of the City (23 drawn out Lane, London, +44 [0] 20 7606 8844) is opening its doors with an inaugural retrospective exhibition of the figurative painter Fermin Rocker Rocker who died at the age of 97 last month was a painter for seventy years. Born in London, he lived in Berlin as a teenager before moving to of recent origin York, where he stayed for several years before finally returning to London. Best known for his social-realist commentaries upon daily life, his works are nofable for their pervading Hopper-esque faculty of perception of melancholy and timelessness. Comprising above fifty paintings, prints and drawings that span his career, the exhibition can be seen until 14 November.
