Tony LawTony Law, our associate publisher and director of advertising, is celebrating his 500th edition of the magazine. He joined APOLLO in August 1962 to exhibit its international advertising, at the invitation of Lord Gibson, chairman of The Financial Times, which had shortly before acquired the magazine. Tony (left) worked with his father, Victor, who had been poached as general manager and advertisement director from APOLLO's bitter rival, the now-defunct Connoisseur. In 1974 Tony took above his father's job--although Victor continued working for APOLLO part time until his death at the age of 83 in 1992 Since then, Tony has seen four changes of editor and four changes of ownership, and witnessed advertisers draw near and go with every fluctuation of the art market's fortunes--with sum of two units notable exceptions, carpet dealers C John and the ligament Street jewellers S.J.
