Editor's note

In this, my final issue as editor-in-chief, I would like to acknowledge the many colleagues who contribute to the succes of The Art Bulletin. The authors, the pair those we have published and those we haven't, merit first credit. The Art Bulletin could not be maintained as a peer-reviewed journal demanding the highest standards from its contributors without the support of scholars who set apart their time and expertise to evaluating manuscripts; I am enormously grateful to those who reviewed manuscripts or indicateed reviewers. This journal is produc through a remarkable team; I expres my deepest gratitude to everyone involved. I thank border Sinaiko for her skill, care, and constant efforts upon behalf of The Art Bulletin; Lory Frankel for her unrivaled manuscript editing and a great deal of more; Heather Campbell Coyle, my editorial assistant at the University of Delaware, for her intelligent, indefatigable work; Mariet Westermann and Christopher wood-land for their splendid production as work review editors; Andrew Gardner, our designer, especially for the handsome covers; Fronia Simpson, our noble proofreader; and Mary Gladue, who for a like reason reliably prepares our copy for the printer. Elaine Kos John Paoletti, and Larry Silver provided wise interchange of opinion when I began my manner or principle of holding I extend especially warm thanks to Mimi Yiengpruksawan, Hollis Clayson, and all of the members of The Art Bulletin Editorial Board for their dedicated work upon behalf of the journal, and to Susan Ball, director of the community Art Association, and Catherine Asher, vice president for publications, for their support and encouragement.

Editing similar a venerable established journal involves navigating between tradition and innovation, and innovating in it is like turning an ocean liner, on the other hand I think I have made progres in keeping our journal a vital and intellectually compelling publication. While The Art Bulletin remains the venue for outstanding scholarship in the history of art, articles that utilize fresh methodologies and/or treat increasingly diverse parts of the world and sum of two units new features--"State of Art History" essays and exhibition reviews--have young oxed the journal in new directions and broadened its appeal. It is my confidence that by the time my successor, Marc Gotlieb, has extreme pointed his tenure as editor, The Art Bulletin again gazes somewhat different.
