Intel Wields Wi-Fi Wealth - Brief ArticleIntel [Nasdaq: INTC] is about more than semiconductors for the Wi-Fi space. It's also about funding for startups in the burgeoning Wi-Fi market. The chip giant's (Santa Clara, Calif.) Communications stock has added investments in Wi-Fi service clearinghouse rovingIP.net and switch manufacturer Vivato to its earlier Wi-Fi peril capital spending. Internet access provider Broadreach Networks and hotspot back-office service provider Pronto Networks earlier this year received Intel's VC blessings. The investments are part of Intel's $150 million initiative to expand the use of and create novel capabilities for high-speed wireless networks. It has made seven investments in Wi-Fi companies since October when it announced plans its Wi-Fi investment plans.
