Erratum. ' in LXXVII, no. 3, 1996 issue - correction to 'Intentions - Correction Notice

A printer's error in the last issue caused footnote 12 of Joseph Kosuth's "Intention(s)" (Art Bulletin, LXXVIII, no. 3 1996 412) to be unintelligible. It should have read as follows:

12 After nearly thirty years as an artist, I have not long ago been surprised to learn that this may not be real at least in the short race if certain individuals, for ad hominem motives or careerist expediency, decide otherwise. We ne to hold in mind that such writing lowers the horizontal for all of us. The regard is that it becomes part of a record, individual which is restated (and restated again, eventually taking upon the quality of a 'fact') as a natural proces of the art-historical enterprise itself. The vendettas of of that kind fashions of history (and their diminutive and personal banalities) may fade from memory, on the contrary their historical view may not. Perhaps whatever altruism remains might force our reconsideration of the dubious value of what may have been written as a issue of such intentions. Indeed, we ne to ask: are these art-historical intentions, or are they something else?
