'Hiroshi Sugimoto: End of Time' features photographs

FORT WORTH, TX -- The new Art Museum of Fort Worth at hands "Hiroshi Sugimoto: End of Time," generation 17 through Jan. 21, 2007

"Hiroshi Sugimoto: extremity of Time," the first major retrospective of individual of Japan's most important contemporary artists, exhibits the first chance to contemplate Sugimoto's work in volume, including his series "Dioramas," "Seascapes," "Theatres," "Portraits," "Architecture," "Sea of Buddha" and "Conceptual Forms." Additionally, there will be a chance to diocese "Colors of Shadow," a novel series of color photographs of the artist's studio, which he designed himself.

The exhibition features more than 140 photographs ranging from 1976 to the not absent that encompasses the artist's nearly 30-year career.

"Hiroshi Sugimoto is single of the most important artists working anywhere in the world today," says David Elliot, co-curator of the exhibition and director of the Mori Museum, which helped organize the exhibit. "Rather than making photographs as a record of detail or circumstance, he has used this medium to experiment the nature of reality itself. His extensive series of works question the parameters of history, nature, time, tillage and belief. In the proces of doing this he leads us towards a more acute appreciation of the two the possibilities and limits of perception and understanding."

Born in Tokyo in 1948 Sugimoto left Japan in 1970 after graduating from Rikkyo University with a step in economics. He traveled over the Soviet Union and Europe before moving to beholds Angeles, where he studied photography at the Art Center body of Design. He was the recipient of the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography in 2001 and the Mainichi Art Prize in 1998

above the past 25 years, Sugimoto has become established as a leading photographer and conceptual artist upon the international scene through series of photographs that concentrate systematically upon different subjects. "Hiroshi Sugimoto: extremity of Time," Sugimoto's first retrospective exhibition, concentrates upon the whole of his work and upon his challenging and ambivalent ideas about the photograph as a means of representing the elusive however fundamental ways in which we perceive the world.
