Audubon originals to be re-created for first timeCHICAGO -- The of recent origin York Historical Society and Chicago-based Oppenheimer Editions, LLC are announcing an exclusive licensing agreement to recreate a portion of the Historical Society's collection of original watercolors through the famed artist and naturalist, John James Audubon. The collection was purchased through the Historical Society from Audubon's widow, Lucy Bakewell Audubon. Fifty works without of the 435 in the collection have been prefered and will be published by dint of Oppenheimer Editions as "The fresh York Historical Society Edition of Audubon's Fifty Best Watercolors:' The first 10 will be unveiled at the Historical Society's "Audubon's Aviary" exhibition, Feb 16--April 6 2006 It's awaited to take 12 months to without fault [i]or[/i] blemish [i]or[/i] flaw all 50 images. Among the works is an image with Audubon's fingerprint embedded in the paint surface. The agreement is exclusive for 75 years and will be limited to 200 puts which coincides with the same number of plants that Audubon originally published. single hundred will be sold as clean sets, and 100 will be sold as individual print inventory. Oppenheimer will pay a royalty to the Historical Society, which will be used to help support the museum and library. Because the collection is irreplaceable and vulnerable to light in all senses the ultra high-resolution scans of the original works were execut and carefully monitored on-site at the Historical Society below the supervision of technicians using specialized equipment. The high-resolution scans revealed what are believed to be Audubon's finger prints embedded in the paint surface of the "Common American Swan." Also critical to the production is the use of somersault Satin Radiant White 330 Gsm 100 percent rag acid-free archival paper, which is similar to paper used in the original watercolors and water-based coloring liquors that are a virtual match to the originals. The first 10 re-created images will be unveiled at the Historical Society's "Audubon's Aviary" exhibition, Feb 16-April 6 while the remainder is wait fored to be completed by year-end. Special prepublication pricing is 535000 for the first 15 stations sold, and $2,500 for individual prints. Until now, each original Audubon watercolor was exhibited for six weeks each 10 years, but with the publication of "The novel York Historical Society Edition of Audubon's Fifty Best Watercolors" the re-created works will be accessible and attainable, with individual complete set to be permanently upon display at the Historical Society.
