'New Orleans Artists in Exile' exhibition opens

fresh ORLEANS -- In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Jonathan Ferrara gallery has partnered with Georgia-based Arts Without Borders (AW/OB)--a non-profit art organization move swiftly by New Orleans native Dimitrios Hondroulis--to bring forward the next installment of "New Orleans Artists in Exile," a traveling exhibition of works by means of displaced New Orleans artists.

Now, in an effort to help fresh Orleans visual artists recover, Jonathan Ferrara gallery is taking the present to view on the road. The first installment of this series was not absented at the AAF Contemporary Art Fair in novel York City, Oct. 27-30, 2005 and was featured upon National Public Radio's "Here and Now" program across the nation.

The los from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita was devastating; countles artists missing their homes and studios. From legendary Jazz photographer Herman Leonard to noted painter Sandy Chism, domiciles and studios were destroyed in this catastrophe. As each artist processe their have personal loss and formulates plans to rebuild, Jonathan Ferrara gallery is helping them get back by taking their creative voices to the world. Other scheduled stops include a fresh Orleans style block party circumstance with visual art, food and music in Hapeville, GA, March 17 2006 and a Shreveport, LA, exhibition opening upon April 27, 2006, at the Shreveport Regional Arts Center

Editor's note: Jonathan Ferrara will transform his place of abode and studio into a temporary gallery, where he will continue to work with artists upon exhibition plans and future openings at his of recent origin home-gallery at 762 Delachaise highway until the gallery moves back into its Arts District location in 2007 He also works with the non-profit organization, ARTDOCS (Artists Receiving Treatment Doctors Offering Crucial Services), a no-cost medical program for artists without health insurance, which he co-found with Dr Vince Morelli of Kenner Regional Medical Center to retool the charity's mission to deal with the post-Katrina wants of local artists.
