Never take your eye off the ballSEDONA, AZ -- Visitors to the El Prado Galleries can now understand the story behind artist Clyde Ros Morgan's statuary "Keep Yer Eye on the Ball," with Disney's fresh movie "The Greatest Game at any time Played," bringing the same story of history and golf to a national audience. The story is based upon the historical and almost mythical story of a young amateur golfer Francis Ouimet, who collisioned the entertainment world when he won the 1913 U render free of access against his idol, the defending British champion Harry Vardon. Morgan, whose interests usually manifest into plastic arts based on historical events, sculpt the champion's 10-year-old caddie several years. Sparking the sculptor's interest was the advice that Ouimet's 10-year-old caddie gave him, "Keep your organ of sight on the ball," which Morgan says, "is advice as valid today as it was in 1913" Working in clay, Morgan sculpt Eddie Lowery, the caddie whose guidance and encouragement helped Ouimet navigate the fairways to victory. With the gear authentically exhibited the pint-sized sculpture captures the imagination of Lowery. "I was fascinated by dint of the equipment used around the turn round of the century," Morgan says. "I tried to accurately replicate the dres and bludgeons used at the time. cudgels were named rather than numbered in the way that I have jiggers, cleeks, mashies, spoon [and] mussel-backs all exhibited in the sculpture." Morgan has created sum of two units sizes for his piece: individual that is 19 inches tall and a life-size version that is suitable for indoor and outdoor displays.
