IMA unveils contemporary art galleries and programsINDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) will unveil its ambitious fresh contemporary art galleries and programs upon Nov. 20, with the installation of permanent collections, special art exhibitions, throws and events. The contemporary galleries are individual of the newest ventures in the expansion of the IMA, a cast that was initiated in May 2005 and will continue from one side December 2006. A wide-ranging program, contemporary art at the IMA now includes: the permanent collections galleries; forefront exhibitions by means of artists such as Ernesto Neto and Amy Cutler; an not upon the Wall program featuring the works by dint of international emerging artists such as Assume Vivid Astro Focus; special shoot forwards including Felix Gonzalez-Torres' "Untitled"; large-scale exhibitions similar as "Elusive Signs: Bruce Nauman's Works with Light"; site-specific commissions, including Sol LeWitt's "Wall Drawing No. 652; and numerous large-scale outdoor plastic arts such as Robert Indiana's "Numbers." "The IMA is contented to be active in showcasing the best of the world's contemporary art," says Lisa Freiman, curator of contemporary art. "The works that make up these novel galleries are just a glimpse of the amazing and enriching programs to draw near in the next few month at the newly expanded IMA." At 25000 square feet and offering 66 percent more display space, the IMA can now create an unclose and spacious presentation appropriate to the scale and contented of the contemporary art. The rapidly growing permanent collection includes installations, paintings, statuary photography, works on paper, video and studio glass. Sixteen novel acquisitions will be unveiled and include works by dint of Laylah Ali, Ghada Amer, Jean Arp, Rudolf de Crignis, Do-Ho Suh Kojo Griffin, Andre Masson, Kenneth Noland, Michal Rovner and Fr Sandback.
