Exhibit examines Civil War battlefields

The DeCordova Museum and statuary Park presents, "John Huddleston" Killing earth Photographs of the Civil War and the Changing American Landscape," displayed in the Arcade Gallery end Jan. 8. The Vermont-based photographer, Huddleston, pairs historical images of Civil War battlefields--battles in progres soldiers living and dead, prisoners of war, civilians and slaves--with his have color photographs taken at the same locations 150 years later. The pictures are always taken at the same time of year, and repeatedly at the same hour of the day. The exhibit examines the meaning of place in American agriculture and the evolving legacy of the Civil War in our national memory.
