Searching for the right fitI felt the August issue of Art Business novels was custom designed for our gallery, especially the piece, "Staffing for Success" page 50 The galleries exhibited in the article were quite different in terminuss of design and the art that they show and it was clear that their sales training was a high priority. I was struck by dint of the amount of energy and resources devot to "in house" seminars, designed to completely develop sales knowledge and skills. on the contrary what about those smaller-in-scale galleries that have worked to place the pieces in place to create a happy business, but need a serviceable sales training seminar or workshop? Several other industries tender that possibility, but I have however to find a sales-training seminar strictly for art businesses and dealers. And while there are advantageous publications available that have helped us tremendously, interactive training could be of great help. I would be willing to travel with my staff to a seminar if I was able to locate individual that was the right fit. It is easy these days to generate images of the site, the art, artists' studios, etc to take to a seminar in order to individualize sales education.
