Calling mature visual artistsPASADENA, CA -- The 5th Biennial Flintridge Foundation Awards for Visual Artists is searching for California-, Oregon- and Washington-based visual artists, whose works have demonstrated high artistic merit for more than 20 years. Five artists from each region--California and Oregon/Washington area--will receive a $25000 grant. Flintridge has awarded $115 million to 46 individual artists since its beginning in 1997 "The awards grew without of a deep desire to provide direct support to individual artists," says Alex Moseley founding board member. "They acknowledge not alone extraordinary talent, creativity and imagination, on the contrary also unflagging courage, optimism and lifelong commitment. Our aim is to bring more awareness to those distinctive, creative voices who, despite years of professional activity and achievements, have not received a commensurate horizontal of recognition beyond their region or outside a particular discipline." Applicants must work in the disciplines of fine arts and crafts, and must have lived in the tri-state region for at least nine month without of the year for three years.
