Reviewing the history of Surrealism in the USA"Surrealism USA," comprising nearly 120 paintings, statuarys and works on paper that examine the history of Surrealism in the United States between 1930 and 1950 is upon display at the National Academy Museum end May 8. The exhibit explores the manifestations of Surrealism in fresh York, as well as other cities of the like kind as Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. The exhibit includes figurative depictions of a fantasy world by the agency of such artists as Peter Blume Dorothea Tanning and Helen Lundeberg; social Surrealism of James shore and Walter Quirt; imaginary landscapes of Kay Sage and Yve Tanguy; and lyrical abstractions of Arshile Gorky and William Baziotes.
