FIT exhibits a legacy

The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) has upon exhibit, "Rico Puhlmann: A Fashion Legacy, 1955-1995" [i]or[/i] part of to the other April 9, showcasing more than 200 photographs, drawings and sketches. The present to view features the artistry of Rico Puhlmann, whose career in the two Europe and America spanned more than 40 years, as a fashion photographer and illustrator. The exhibit gives the visitor a perspective of 20th hundred fashion on two continents and includes images of garments, portraits, and cityscapes from Puhlmann's collection. Included in the exhibit are Puhlmann's portraits of moulds such as Cindy Crawford, Isabella Rossellini and Calvin Klein.

"Rico Puhlmann knew in what manner to make clothes appear entirely natural upon a woman's body, and preferr to present to view garments where they might actually be worn; in a corner cafe, a neighborhood restaurant, or his have living room," says William Ewing, a photography historian. "He also photographed faces beautifully, with equal reason he had hundreds of overlay assignments. Rico also had a fathomless color sensibility and was a skilled art director."
