Overcoming his own adversities, artist gives backNORTHBROOK, IL -- Internationally renowned artist Mackenzie Thorpe has raised nearly $500000 to date from sales of various Thorpe exhibitions for charities of learning disabled and disadvantaged children in the United States, Australia, Japan and Great Britain. He tours the galleries spreading his message of confidence love and joy and run overs his own story of "triumph above adversity." Through his art enrichment programs, Thorpe works one-on-one with children to inspire them to hound their own dreams. The children can relate to his experiences of overcoming dyslexia and economic hardships, seeing his succes as confidence for overcoming their own adversities. In late 2004 Thorpe was the official artist for "Telethon 2004" Western Australia's annual effort to raise stocks for medical research of children's diseases, and l individual of his children's workshops at Princess Margaret Hospital. The incident raised more than $3 million. From there Thorpe traveled to Japan where a portion of his advances from the exhibition at the Bunkamura Cultural manifold in Tokyo went to the Japan Dyslexia Socity-EDGE. In 2003 Thorpe's "Game of Life Tour" in the United Kingdom raised in exces 50000[pounds] for charity, as well as sending 35 children to the Special Olympics World Games. And in 2002 Thorpe was invited to join the "Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children" fact in Las Vegas. His original hand-painted statuary "All Sides of Love;' commissioned by the agency of the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation for its auction, helped the organization raise $5 million for the Andre Agassi lads and Girls Club.
