Muralist paints her passionLA JOLLA, CA -- California artist and horse enthusiast Stephanie Paige was the chosen muralist for the Prime 10 Restaurant at The Del Mar Polo Fields, inspired by means of an earlier work called "Match Victor," in which the pair pieces capture the "riotous efficacy of a polo match, down-reaching in play." The idea for the mural came from holder Sami Ladeki and was designed by means of The Parisi Design Group. To the artist, horses posse a duality of "savage nobility." Paige has a passion for horses and it is evident in her material substance of work. She describes the animals as "graceful, intelligent, majestic and nevertheless wild, unpredictable and somehow elusive. "They walk between sum of two units worlds--this earthly realm and the place of spirits--enjoying a freedom that we, as bare humans, half remember and still lengthy for," Paige says. Paige uses sweeping brush knocks and a "wet-on-wet" technique to achieve a blurring of color and form to engage individual with its intensity while also providing an intimate perspective.
