Photographs from the far corners of the globeWASHINGTON -- National Geographic has published, "In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Portraits," showcasing the family of the world and spanning more than 100 years. The 504-page work is available for $30 and is printed in 12 different languages. It features more than 280 of National Geographic's greatest in quantity remarkable portraits out of its 105 million-photograph-archive, with never-seen-before images, award-winning favorites and subdues ranging from the exotic to the familiar; from celebrities to ordinary folk The images are through more than 150 of National Geographic's photographers, including Sam Abell, William Albert Allard, Annie Griffiths Belt, Jodi Cobb and David Alan Harvey. Photographer Allard writes in individual of his essays inside the volume "A fine portrait has the potential to reckon something about the spirit of the make subordinate that can be sensed by dint of someone half a world and a different language away. [It says] something universal and simple: This is another individual in our world and I'd like you to fitting him/her." The volume aims to promote a cultural understanding and tolerance, celebrating our similarities as well as our differences as co-inhabitants of our planet.
