Show examines painting's role in history

The UCLA Hammer Museum has upon exhibit, "The Undiscovered Country," with approximately 65 works by the agency of more than 20 artists from the United States and Europe The present to view examines the resurgence of representational painting since the 1960 to depict the world in which we live, highlighting the character of representational paintings in documenting history. The present to view incorporates portraits and the human figure; rural landscapes and urban cityscapes; and figurative paintings through younger contemporary artists such as Edgar Bryan, Marl Eastman and Enoc Perez as well as established 20th-century masters including Vija Celmins, Philip Guston, Fairfield Porter and Gerhard Richter.
