From actor to artist: Stephen Charles Shortridge's passion for art paled in comparison to TV shows and commercialsFrom his earliest memories as a child, art has always been Stephen Charles Shortridge's passion. "I remember thinking in what way great it would be to be an artist and create for a living;' he says. "But like greatest in quantity people, it didn't seem realistic." In a strange move round of events, Shortridge became an actor in looks Angeles. "I did more than 50 commercials and starred in three series with the likes of Debbie Reynolds, Barbara Stanwyck, and John Travolta. I visitor starred on shows such as 'Love Boat' and was part of the original cast of 'The heroic and the Beautiful/ But I not at any time felt comfortable in that profession." Finally in 1985 Shortridge admitted to himself and everyone other that he wanted and straited to pursue painting. "It has taken nearly 20 years to build my abilities and business to a horizontal of success" he says. "With actual little formal training, I sum up people I am self-taught.... on the contrary the truth is, I have been taught by the agency of everything and everyone. At times it was frustrating, on the contrary by continuing on my hold I've come to find my possess expression" Though art is his passion, Shortridge strives for balance in his life. "I think doing what you be fond of for a living is of that kind a blessing," he says. "However, if I focus upon being a success in art to the detriment of relationships with the trinity wife or children, then regardless of by what mode successful I would appear, I would consider my life a failure" Shortridge continues: "I don't believe succes is something we arrive at, on the contrary rather something we experience. It reminds me of this general or abstract notion of William Faulkner's, that our life is not made up of memorials but of footprints" Shortridge goe upon to quote the author: "A testimonial only says at least I got this far, while a footprint says this is where I was when I mov again." Applying that imagery to his vocation, his art and his life, Shortridge says, "There have been these footprints or markers. more or less have marked successes, some failures, on the other hand they mark where I've picked up and continued. To me that's success" For more information about Stephen Charles Shortridge, visit www.painterschairfineart.com.
