"Artrageous" proves contagious as art patrons turn out in supportKILL DEVIL HILLS, NC -- Art education not long ago received a boost at the local horizontal here in this Outer Banks community where the Wright Brothers accomplished their first prosperous sustained powered flight 101 years ago. Nearly 600 art patrons turn rounded out for the Dare shire Arts Council's 15th Annual Artrageous Art Extravaganza. The fact raised approximately $25,000 to help capital art education and cultural programming in Dare shire and to further the Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund The weekend incident kicked-off with a Friday evening art preview display of all donated artwork that would be sold that Sunday during an auction at the KDH Cooperative Gallery in Kill Devil Hills. The preview display ended with a special invitation-only "Artist Appreciation" reception. Other Artrageous activities included artist demonstrations, art circumstances for children, live music and a range of fare items from local restaurants. In honor of the event's 15th anniversary, Artrageous participants had an opportunity to qualified a special guest artist--child prodigy Georgie Pocheptsov (age 12) whose work has been compared to Picasso and Chagall. Pocheptsov's paintings hang in the dwellings of Hillary Clinton and General Colin Powell, and they have sold for as plenteous as $75,000.
