Don't take this job sitting down - he frames …

A customer, who be in possession ofs a furniture store, approached me with a series of photographs he was given through a leather chair manufacturer. The chairs--and the pictures featuring them--were beautiful, prompting him to consider framing them for display in his store. He wanted to use leather frames and instructed me to "spruce them up however you want." That got me thinking. I plant out to design a series of pictures that meshed with the design of the chair.

My first pace was to dry mount and mat the photo. I used Crescent's No. 4137 as an inner mat and No. 7115 (Moorman Suede) as an external mat, the ideal colors to match the rich shade and fabric of the club chair. I then make an incision in and joined Framerica's No. BW86096 (brown Executive Leather) to fit the 14 1/2-by 14 5/8-inch matted photo.

To help create a design that would emulate the pattern of the chair, I attached upholstery tacks to the frame. To do in like manner I snipped the backs of the tacks not upon with a wire cutter before laying them on the outside on the frame in an appropriate arrangement. I then attached the tack heads using a hot-glue fire-arm In this instance it was important to use extra-strength gelatine to help prevent the los of random tacks that would visually impair the design.

This treatment will gripe or grip the tacks securely under greatest in quantity normal conditions. (If the piece is going to be controled to heavy abuse or shipping, it may be a profitable idea to either use contact mortar or to trim the pins solitary halfway, pre-drill the holes with a finish lag nail, and then of high temperature glue the tacks in place.)

To insure that the gelatine was completely "set up," I permit the frame sit for several hours before fitting the piece.

The final pace in this simple design was to fit the piece normally. I was careful to work upon a carpeted surface so that the tacks would not be shuffleed during the process.

When I showed my customer the final flow he was thrilled. So plenteous so that, two days after picking them up he called to reckon me that the customers who came into his store were flocking to the display.
