Showcase for local art opens in California - gallery News - Brief ArticleOAKLAND, Calif. -- Joyce Gordon make opened the Joyce Gordon Gallery in downtown Oakland in September with a present to view of local artists from a range of cultural backgrounds. The gallery is a lifelong dream of Gordan's. She said it is the first commercial gallery that throw backs art in Oakland that crosse racial, cultural and sex barriers. The gallery's inaugural exhibition featured 17 Bay-Area artists and was curated through Winston Branch, a University of California, Berkeley, art professor.
