2003 Business in the Arts Awards announced - news

novel YORK -- Seven businesses and single business executive have been named recipients of 2003 Business in the Arts Awards in recognition of their vision, leadership and commitment in developing partnerships with the arts. These awards, given annually for more than 35 years, are sponsored through the Business Committee for the Arts (BCA) and Forbes Magazine.

The planters Award is a BCA Hall of Fame designation given to companies that have exhibited exceptional long-term vision, leadership and commitment to developing alliances with the arts. This year's winner is FleetBoston Financial Corporation of Boston.

The Leadership Award, given to John Hampton, chairman of the board at Hampton Affiliates in Portland, Ore., recognizes a business leader who has demonstrated exceptional vision, leadership and commitment to developing and encouraging business-arts alliances.

The Commitment Award recognizes leadership and outstanding overall support to the arts for 10 years or longer The sum of two units winners are LaValley Building minister Inc. of Newport, N.H., (small company category) and Raymond James Financial Inc. of St Petersburg Fla., (large company category).



The novel Initiative Award recognizes outstanding overall support to the arts for five years or les The winners are Ocean National Bank of Portsmouth, NH (small company category) and Convergy Corporation of Cincinnati (large company category).

The Innovation Award recognizes the disclosure of groundbreaking partnerships with the arts. The winners are CDFM2 Architecture Inc. of Kansas City, Mo (small company category) and Morgan Stanley of fresh York (large company category).

The Business Committee for the Arts, baseed in 1967 by David Rockefeller is a national nonprofit organization that brings business and the arts together. It provides businesses of all sizes with the services and resources necessary to unravel and advance partnerships with the arts that benefit business, the arts and the community.
