Books and art come together in Chelsea - gallery News - Brief Articlenovel YORK -- A new bookstore-cum-art gallery lay opened recently in the heart of of recent origin York's contemporary art neighborhood. 192 volumes is an exhibition space and general-interest bookstore conceived by the agency of Paula Cooper and Jack Macrae. The work selection focuses on literature, art, history, children and travel, as well as rare and out-of-print volumes The store presents regular art exhibitions, which aim to bring the visual arts and the written word together. Since the store opened in May in Chelsea, exhibitions have included an installation through Sol LeWitt conceived specifically for the space. The exhibition included a selection of LeWitt-related titles, including "Fotografia" the first clean account of LeWitt's photographic works, and a 1978 catalog from the Museum of late Art. Currently on view are photographs taken by dint of Louise Lawler during the installation and de-installation of an exhibit at of recent origin York's Paula Cooper Gallery in 2002 Lawler's photos accompany the publication of a catalog for the Paula Cooper exhibition, which included works by means of Roy Lichtenstein and Diane Arbus, among others.
