Turn a shadowbox into a sleek CD shelf - he frames …

A new customer was picking out more [i]or[/i] less posters for her 15-year-old son's newly decorated expanse when she mentioned his overabundance of compact discs, which were scattered everywhere. She wanted something nicer than the regular, inexpensive CD proprietors to match the beautiful novel furniture. I suggested we build a furniture-grade CD owner out of picture frame moulding to hang upon the wall using Framerica[R]'s Boxers[R] which allowed me to create sufficient depth

My first pace was to cut, join and assemble the chest I used four layers of Boxers--one No. 93015 sum of two units No. 92015, and No. 91015 for the cap--to reach the necessary 6 1/2-inch deepness The finished holder measured 10 3/4 by dint of 19 inches, which was large enough to allow for sum of two units shelves within the holder. After assembling the chest I lined the inside with Crescent[R] Blackcore (No. 6989 Raven Black), which was first mountained onto black foamcore.

nearest I needed to make shelves for the proprietor To do so, I divide [i]or[/i] sever and joined two frames using Framerica moulding No. 72015 to match the inside dimensions of the shadowbox (in this case, 6 5/16 by means of 10 5/16 inches). To make an incision in the moulding, I turned the stick in like manner the top of the frame was against the saw wall ensuring the face of the frame would present to view from the front of the complet shoot forward When joining, the wedges should be placed from one side what are normally the sides of the frames, allowing the upturn lip to clinch the CDs securely in place,

To attach the shelves, I nailed from one side the underside of each frame into the side of the Boxer using a piece of foamcore as a spacer, the pair to make sure the shelves were correctly spaced and to preclude any shift from nailing.

After the shelves were in place, I lined each with the same matboard, attaching it to the lip of the frames with double-sided tape. To finish it not upon I simply fit a piece of black matboard into the next to the first lip of the Boxer and backed the piece for hanging. The ensue was a fully functional CD owner worthy of a newly decorated room
