Museum matters - art buzz … - Brief ArticleChicago's Terra Museum of American Art plans to transfer its collection to the Art Institute of Chicago and shut up its Michigan Avenue facility through October 2004. The arrangement is designed to allow the Terra Foundation, which still has assets of about $200 million, to make known new research and education programs, said museum director Elizabeth Glassman. The Terra has not attracted optimal attendance, counting a bare 85,000 visitors last year, as oppos to 135 million at the nearby Art Institute. Before the Terra close ups down, the museum plans a 16-month-long series of six exhibitions, called "Modern Matters." Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, or national gallery, is getting a makeover.
