Already being compared with the Sistine Chapel, the work uses the glowing beetle carapaces to create an enormous mosaic that overlays the barrel vault and the ceiling niches of the 19th-century Hall of Mirrors. For a centerpiece, he has made the beetle fragments crawl down to overlay every inch of the main chandelier. For more than three years, Fabre bring togethered the beetles, and last summer he and a team of 30 assistants worked for three month to apply the swirls of carapaces to the ceiling and the high niches.
