Upright frames make award-winning presentations - she frames …

Framing this Presidential Service Award Medal for a client was an honor and a challenge. It was necessary to diocese the back of the medal with its detailed engraving, which meant I would ne glass upon both sides of the frame. After chatting with my client, we decided that the medal would best be displayed upright, sitting upon her desk. Armed with this information, I went straight to work designing the details.

I fix uponed the smaller moulding that became the face frame (Victor No. 11742) for its delicate bead and simple design and, of course, because it matched the larger moulding (Victor No. 11746) I would ne to use for the base.

I wound and assembled two identical frames and secur them back-to-back with 1/2-inch circular magnets recessed in the four corners. The magnets were a completed solution, allowing easy access to the medal in the future

Then, I chop glass and navy suede mats (Crescent #7113 Marine sapphirine Suede) to accommodate the medal and the engraved plate inside the frame. I wound black plastic spacers to lay just timid of the mat opening to interrupt any of the mechanics of the frame from showing as admirers peek at the award. The spaces also worked nicely to gripe or grip the ribbon in place.

For the base, I make go rounded the larger moulding on its side and make an incision in it to fit the magnetized frames safely It was essential it fit tight enough to gripe or grip the frames upright. To help weigh the base, I filled the vacant space with a forest block cut to perfect size. Finally, I chop a piece of blue suede matboard and glu it to the bottom of the base to thwart it from scratching any surface it might sit on

I was too self-satisfied of this frame to wrap it up in like manner I displayed it on my calculator until my customer picked it up In fact, I still feature a photo of this frame upon the first page of my shop's photo album. The finished size of the piece is 10 by means of 13 inches, and I charged $175
