Artists, gallery owners are mad about Madison - city beat Madison, Wis

These days, America's Dairyland is receiving attention for something other than its tasty cheese, wholesome milk and football game victories. Instead, various art throw outs throughout the state of Wisconsin are also generating a hum One place in particular is Madison, the consummate college-town and seat of the state government

With its beautiful prospect affordable housing and vibrant atmosphere center around the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison not aways a perfect model of in what manner a city with a population of about 210000 is able to combine small-town charm with urban sophistication. Andy Weiner, holder of Spaightwood Galleries, believes Madison tenders artists many opportunities to gain in all senses "When we opened in 1980 there was single other gallery in Madison. Jack Garver, proprietor of the Fanny Garver Gallery, the oldest gallery in the city, agreed. "The art view is definitely growing," he said. "Madison has become more of a destination during the last number of years. The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Convention Center make opened four years ago, and this has drawn tribe from all over the world. It's also inexpensive and the quality of life is true high, and both artists and collectors are figuring this out"
