Beyond room service: legal consequences of sexual harassment of staff by hotel guests

The law is clear that hospitality operators must obviate and remedy sexual harassment in the workplace of employee by dint of supervisors or other employees. However, where the alleged harasser is a visitant the law seems far more interested in what the hospitality operator did to counteractive the complaint than to thwart the incident. At this point, case law upon this topic is relatively slim and few states have passed specific laws. Employer must make a "reasonable effort" to address like harassment, but it is not at the same time clear what exactly that means--especially since a justice or jury would determine what is "reasonable"
